‘Wonder Years’ Star Danica McKellar Joins 2016 Miss America Competition as a Judge

The actress joins judges Brett Eldredge, Taya Kyle, Kevin O’Leary, Amy Purdy and Zendaya

Danica McKellar has joined the panel of judges for the 2016 Miss America Competition.

Dick Clark Productions and ABC announced on Monday that the actress — best known for playing Winnie Cooper opposite Fred Savage on the beloved TV series “The Wonder years — will join previously announced judges Brett Eldredge, Taya Kyle, Kevin O’Leary, Amy Purdy and Zendaya on the beauty pageant panel.

ABC’s Chris Harrison will be hosting alongside actress Brooke Burke-Charvet, with Nick Jonas serving as the official music curator of the event. The final judge for the event will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

“The Miss America Organization shares my passion for the advancement of women in the STEM fields and celebrates smart, strong women- exactly aligning with the messages in my math books aimed at empowering young women,” said McKellar. “I am proud to be part of the show and an organization that is such a huge advocate for education.”

McKellar is the author of New York Times bestselling books “Math Doesn’t Suck,” “Kiss My Math” and “Girls Get Curves: Geometry Takes Shape,” but hasn’t given up on acting. She’s appeared on “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory,” and most recently starred in Hallmark Channel movie “Perfect Match.”

The 2016 Miss America Competition will return to Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on Sept. 13, and will air on ABC at 9 p.m. ET.
