New ‘X-Files’ Teaser: Mulder Wonders If His Entire Career ‘Was a Lie’ (Video)

“We haven’t been in more danger,” Special Agent Fox Mulder warns

The original “X Files” series on Fox ran for nine series — but what if the conclusions drawn from that epic amount of airtime were all a lie? That’s what a new teaser for the revival season ponders, scaring the crap out of at least Special Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny).

“It’s behind us. They tell us that makes us safer,” Mulder says via a voiceover in the 30-second teaser. “We haven’t been in more danger.”

The quick spot originally ran during Monday night’s “Gotham” episode on Fox.

In it, Mulder and partner Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) then introduce themselves to … someone — in that ominous badges-out way of theirs.

“What if our work — the X Files — everything we’ve been led to believe in is a lie?” Mulder questions at the end.

The truth is still out there: The six-episode event series kicks off on January 24, 2016 on Fox.
