Yoko: Don’t Hold Your Breath for Beatles on iTunes

Lennon’s wife tells Reuters that negotiations are ongoing to release the Fab Four’s albums digitally

Sorry Beatles lovers, the Fab Four won't be coming to iTunes anytime soon, according to Yoko Ono.

While making the rounds promoting “LENNONYC,” a public television documentary about her late husband, Ono said that she and the groups surviving members could not reach an agreement to release the Beatles albums digitally.

“Don’t hold your breath … for anything,” Oko told Reuters.

For the time being, the only way to buy Beatles albums will be through physical CDs.

Ono's announcement about the breakdown in negotiations comes as a surprise. For the first time last month, the group's label Apple Records made certain albums available digitally — the only catch was that in place of "Rubber Soul" or "Abbey Road," music lovers had to settle for records from the likes of James Taylor and Billy Preston.

Still the move was seen by many of the Fab Four's fans as paving the way for the Beatles to eventually make their iconic albums available through the other Apple.

“There’s just an element that we’re not very happy about, as people. We are holding out," Ono told Reuters, dashing on cold water on those hopes.
