The CW’s “Arrow” returned on Tuesday with its Season 8 premiere. Let’s just say it hit one of the outer rings in terms of Nielsen ratings.

NBC finished first last night in terms of primetime ratings in the important adults 18-49 demographic. CBS was No. 1 in total viewers.

Much further down the Nielsen sheets, The CW finished in last place outright, behind Univision and Telemundo. That’s not a foreign ranking for the youngest-skewing broadcast network, but it’s not where The CW wants to be on an evening it airs an original episode of “The Flash” — especially this early in the season.

NBC was first in ratings with a 1.2 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 6.4 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Voice” at 8 p.m. posted a 1.3/6 and 7.6 million viewers. At 9, “This Is Us” put up a 1.5/7 and 6.7 million viewers. At 10, “New Amsterdam” received a 0.8/4 and 5 million viewers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 0.9/4 and first in viewers with 8.6 million. “NCIS” at 8 landed a 1.1/5 and 10.6 million viewers. At 9, “FBI” had a 0.9/4 and 8.7 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” at 10 got a 0.7/3 and 6.6 million viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 0.8/3 and fourth in viewers with 3.2 million. “The Resident” at 8 had a 0.7/3 and 3.7 million viewers. At 9, “Empire” got a 0.8/3 and 2.8 million viewers.

ABC was fourth in ratings with a 0.7/3 and third in viewers with 3.3 million. “The Conners” at 8 had a 1.1/5 and 5.4 million viewers. At 8:30, “Bless This Mess” got a 0.7/3 and 3.4 million viewers. “Mixed-ish” at 9 received a 0.7/3 and 2.8 million viewers. At 9:30, “Black-ish” finished off the comedy block with a 0.6/3 and 2.6 million viewers. Drama “Emergence” at 10 closed primetime to a 0.5/2 and 2.7 million viewers.

Univision and Telemundo tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.5/2. Univision was fifth in total viewers with 1.441 million, Telemundo was right behind it with 1.436 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.4/2 and in viewers with 1.1 million. “The Flash” at 8 had a 0.5/2 and 1.3 million viewers. At 9, “Arrow” got a 0.3/2 — up one-tenth of a ratings point from its Season 7 finale — and 869,000 viewers.
