Finn Wittrock Gets the Girl, Makes the Team, and Suffers Brutal Injury in ‘My All American’ Trailer (Video)

“American Horror Story” star portrays University of Texas football player Freddie Steinmark this November

Forget “Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!” — fans will be chanting “Freddie! Freddie! Freddie!” this November.

Finn Wittrock plays University of Texas football underdog and fan favorite Freddie Steinmark in “My All American,” which punted a trailer onto the web Thursday morning. If the premise and feel of the inspirational amateur sports story seems familiar, it’s because the film hails from writer-director Angelo Pizzo — the man behind both “Hoosiers” and the aforementioned “Rudy.”

The trailer takes viewers from Steinmark’s high school glory days, through a frustrating college recruitment process, and eventually to a devastating leg injury after the undersized player has somehow managed to stand out on the prestigious Longhorns football team.

“My All American” also stars Aaron Eckhart, Sarah Bolger and Robin Tunney, among others. The movie kicks off into theaters on Nov. 13.
