“Ant-Man” director Peyton Reed is coming back to the picnic — as the director is in talks to return for Marvel’s planned sequel to the Paul Rudd hit, an individual close to negotiations told TheWrap.
The sequel title, “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” was announced in early October — with the eponymous Wasp referring to Evangeline Lilly‘s character from the first film. A rep for Marvel had no comment.
The extra small hero’s release date takes the spot Disney — Marvel’s owner — previously gave “The Black Panther,” which is now set for a wide release on Feb. 16, 2018.
“Ant-Man” had a nearly $180 million domestic haul, and co-starred Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale and Judy Greer.
