GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee was busy during the Democratic debate, tweeting off a series of controversial comments about the nature of racism while throwing out a racial stereotype about dog-eating Koreans in order to bash Bernie Sanders.

“I trust ‪@BernieSanders with my tax dollars like I trust a North Korean chef with my Labrador! ‪#DemDebate,” he wrote on Twitter Tuesday night, referring to dog meat historically being eaten in the Asian country.

Predictably, Huckabee received a groundswell of criticism on social media, causing him to respond to “poor liberals.”

“Poor liberals think it’s racist to deplore a brutal dictatorship,” he tweeted.

Earlier in the evening, Huckabee wrote: “Racism exists because we have a sin problem in America, not a skin problem,” the former Arkansas Governor said, who’s also made controversial comments about homosexuality.

That tweet, made in response to the Democratic debate discussion on the #BlackLivesMatter movement, came after he tweeted: “ALL lives matter. It’s time we stop burning cars, shooting cops, & recognize that life is a gift from God.”

Huckabee is currently polling in a range of 2 to 5 percent in most national polls among Republican presidential candidates.
