Olivia Wilde to Play Chris Pine’s Gal Pal in ‘Welcome to People’

Alex Kurtzman is making his directorial debut with the DreamWorks drama

"Tron: Legacy" star Olivia Wilde will play Chris Pine's girlfriend in Alex Kurtzman's DreamWorks drama "Welcome to People," the actress' representation at WME has confirmed to TheWrap.

Pine stars as a young businessman who returns home after his estranged father's death and discovers that he has an alcoholic sister with a 12-year-old son.

Wilde's "The Next Three Days" co-star Elizabeth Banks will play Pine's sister.

Kurtzman is making his directorial debut with the project, which he wrote with longtime writing partner Robert Orci, as well as Jody Lambert.

Kurtzman and Orci are producing "People" through their DreamWorks-based production company Paper Products. The duo have previously worked with both Pine and Wilde, as the former played Capt. James T. Kirk in "Star Trek," while the latter stars in their upcoming summer tentpole "Cowboys & Aliens."

Bobby Cohen is also producing "Welcome to People," which is scheduled to start production this month in Los Angeles.

In addition to Jon Favreau's "Cowboys & Aliens," Wilde has the Universal comedy "The Change-Up," the Weinstein Co. comedy "Butter" and the Fox/New Regency sci-fi thriller "Now" on the horizon. The actress is also in talks to play Eric Bana's sister in the indie crime thriller "Kin."

Wilde's casting was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
