‘The Path’ Creator on Why Her Hulu Movement Isn’t Scientology (Video)

TCA 2016: “The internet is full of misinformation,” Jessica Goldberg pans any similarities

Hulu’s “The Path” depicts a religious movement — really, a cult — one that is most definitely not social commentary on Scientology, the series creator clarified.

“No, I guess the Internet is full of misinformation,” Jessica Goldberg told reporters Saturday at the Television Critics Association press event. “I’m a sort of faith-interested person, but I don’t follow anything [specific].”

“This show really came out of a more personal experience for me, where a few years ago I had the double-whammy of losing a parent and getting divorced in one year,” the executive producer continued. “I found my little universe I deeply believed in.”

She also grew up in Woodstock, so there’s that exposure to the hippie-dippy.

Anyway, eat that, online rumors.

“The Path” stars Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, Rockmond Dunbar and Hugh Dancy. In addition to Goldberg, Jason Katims is also executive producing the streaming series.
