San Francisco-Detroit game shows marginal improvement over series opener, but still lags behind last year
The good news for Fox? Game 2 of the World Series, which aired on the network Thursday night, had improved ratings over Wednesday night's Game 1.
The bad news for the network? Baseball's biggest showdown is still down from the 2011 World Series.
Game 2 between the San Francisco Giants and Detroit Tigers easily took the ratings crown Thursday night. It had a 7.8 rating/12 share in the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demographic, a 3 percent improvement over Game 1, and drew 12.3 million total viewers, which put it slightly ahead of Game 1's 12.2 million total viewers.
But while Game 2 inched up from Game 1's numbers, it still fell short of Game 2 in 2011 between the St, Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers, which received an 8.9/14 and averaged 14.3 million viewers.
Game 1 of last year's World Series drew an 8.7/14 and an average 14.2 million total viewers.
