‘Shazam!’ Star Zachary Levi to Host 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards

The 28th edition of the awards show takes place June 17

Say his name! Zachary Levi is set to host the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards, it was announced Tuesday.

The “Shazam!” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star will host the 2019 awards ceremony taking place on June 17 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

Levi follows past hosts including Tiffany Haddish, Adam Devine, Dwayne Johnson with Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Conan O’Brien, Rebel Wilson, Russell Brand, Jason Sudeikis and Andy Samberg.

This is the 28th edition of the awards show but only the third to honor both film and TV jointly. The 2019 categories and nominees will be announced in the coming weeks.

Levi currently stars in the DC superhero comedy “Shazam!” as directed by David F. Sandberg, which has already made $321.9 million worldwide. He’s also known for his work on “Chuck” and in the second season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” which won a SAG Award for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

Last year’s winners included “Black Panther” and “Stranger Things.”

The official sponsors for this year’s show include M&M’s, Mountain Dew and Taco Bell.

Joel Gallen of Tenth Planet Productions will serve as executive producer with MTV’s Amy Doyle, Wendy Plaut and Vanessa Whitewolf for the 2019 “MTV Movie & TV Awards.” Rick Austin will also serve as executive producer. Joseph Buoye and Alicia Portugal are executives in charge of production. Amani Duncan and Lisa Lauricella are executives in charge of music.
