Adele returned in incredible fashion with the news that she would be dropping a new album called “25” on Nov. 20 and by releasing a new single called “Hello.”
She said her new album is a “make-up” album, as opposed to her last album, “21,” which was dubbed a “break-up” album.
“There is some darkness on it just because I like to be dramatic. I’m a bit of a drama queen… Like 60 percent of it is just about letting go,” she told SiriusXM’s Jenny Eliscu. “I realized when I was at 25 that I was still holding on to, not like grudges, but I was holding onto really unnecessary things.”
“This record is all about how I feel as opposed to how someone else has made me feel. It’s about how I made myself feel,” she continued.
The Grammy winner took a hiatus from recording after the birth of her first child in 2012, but found new inspiration with this new song.
“Well, it happened really quickly while I was writing, which is always a good sign,” she said. “Not that I did it in five minutes but the verse was in really, really quickly. It’s also incredibly conversational. I didn’t want to come back with some spectacular point. I don’t have a point to prove.”
She also revealed that she had previously tried to record before this new album but did not feel ready.
“I had tried after about a year with a friend of mine, but it was pretty obvious pretty quickly that I wasn’t ready or in a head space to concentrate on accessing my creative [side] so I didn’t want to waste anyone else’s time,” she said. “I just decided not to do it until I really felt ready.”
