In her new documentary, “Generation Wealth” director Lauren Greenfield explores the cultural obsessions of wealth in our generation, and how the recent changes in our political climate have continued to fuel not just having wealth, but the desire and the aspiration for wealth.
“Over these 25 years, we’ve also never seen so much inequality and so little social mobility,” Greenfield told TheWrap’s Matt Donnelly at the Sundance Film Festival.
“Keeping up with the Joneses has literally become ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians,’” she said, adding that the fixation with appearing to be well-off has also fueled the rise of Donald Trump.
