On Tuesday, it was announced that Reitman will direct a new sequel to the original “Ghostbusters.” The as-yet untitled film will go into production this summer and with release in summer 2020.

Described as “the next chapter” in the story started by the 1984 original, the film will involve the passing of a torch to a new generation of paranormal investigators. It will be the second official sequel following 1988’s “Ghostbusters 2.”

In the trailer, we see a barn that lights up when someone tinkers with a machine. Elmer Bernstein’s score from the 1984 original is playing as we draw closer to the doors of the barn and as we see supernatural phenomena unfold around it. The machine finally powers up, and the back of the original Ecto-1 is revealed complete with the Ghostbusters logo.

The film will have no connection to the female-led 2016 film directed by Paul Feig that starred Kristin Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
