John Krasinski Recalls When a Customs Agent Couldn’t Believe He Was Married to Emily Blunt (Video)

For some reason, the agent was upset Krasinski got to marry the British actress

John Krasinski recalled a time when a London customs agent couldn’t believe he was married to actress Emily Blunt.

During Krasinski’s appearance on Tuesday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to promote his new movie “A Quiet Place,” the crowd erupted at the mention of Blunt’s name.

“That reaction means I married up, and don’t I know it,” Krasinski said. “They don’t have to tell me; the customs agent in London did.”

He proceeded to talk about the time when he visited his wife while she was filming a “small indie called ‘Mary Poppins.’”

“It was going great, the customs, the whole experience. And then I hit this guy who was about my age,” Krasinski said. “He looked like he was ready to get a little surly with me.”

The agent said, Krasinski recalled: “‘It says here that you’re an actor. Would I know you from anything?’ And I went, ‘You know, we redid the U.K. version of ‘The Office.’ — Strike one! He was like, ‘Oh, you took what we did perfect.’”

And when Krasinski told the customs agent whom he was visiting in London — well, that’s when it all went downhill.

“And then he says, ‘Who are you visiting here?’ And I was like, ‘My wife,’” said the actor. “He says, ‘Oh, is she an actress? Would I know her?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know man, her name’s Emily Blunt.’ And he goes like this, ‘You? You married Emily Blunt? Go. Just go.’ The stamp was so hard!”

Blunt and Krasinski star in “A Quiet Place,” a film about a family that needs to live in compete silence, otherwise creatures will hunt them down. It hits theaters this Friday.
