‘Morning Joe’ Trolls Trump on Water Bottle Use: ‘You Gotta Have Really Big Hands’

“This is like PTSD from 2016,” says someone off-screen as the show gratuitously plays B-roll of the moment

In the first hour of “Morning Joe” on Thursday, co-host Mika Brzezinski could not help dedicating some time to mock Trump’s fumbling sip of water during a press conference the day before.

Brzezinski didn’t hold back, hitting Trump where she knew it would hurt the most.

“You gotta have really big hands to be able hold a bottle of water,” she said. “That was tough. He had to use two hands for one bottle of water. My point exactly.”

That observation sparked some intense groaning on set.

“This is like PTSD from 2016,” said someone as the show gratuitously replayed B-roll.

Brzezinski’s hand shot references an infamous moment during the 2016 campaign when then-presidential candidate Marco Rubio mocked Trump’s hand size and suggested it was reflective of decreased manhood.

Trump — not one to let slights go — personally addressed the matter in a debate later in the campaign.

“I have to say this, he hit my hands. Nobody has ever hit my hands. I’ve never heard of this one,” said Trump “And he referred to my hands if they’re small, something else must be small. I guarantee you there’s no problem. I guarantee you.”

In fact, jokes about Trump’s hands have percolated since Spy Magazine called him a “short-fingered vulgarian” in 1988.

For Brzezinski, who has been the subject of some of Trump’s most brutal tweets, the moment of hand-mocking was likely cathartic.
