Shakira Confirms She’s Leaving ‘The Voice’

The Latin pop star will hand her coaching spot back to returning Christina Aguilera, as TheWrap first reported

Shakira has confirmed that she won't be returning for Season 5 of NBC's "The Voice."

The confirmation comes days after TheWrap first reported that Christina Aguilera has closed her deal to return next season.

“Not for next season, for sure,” Shakira revealed, when Access Hollywood asked if she would return for Season 5.

"I have to get back to my baby – give him some love and dedicate some time to him and also to my new album that I’m working on," the Latin crossover pop star also said.

Actually, there's a good chance she will return. An NBC executive with knowledge of the network's plans told TheWrap earlier this week that the show expects that she will return on a future season.

NBC declined TheWrap's request for comment.

Shakira joined the current season while Aguilera took off to promote her "Lotus" album and tour. Aguilera signed a $12 million contract with the potential to reach $17 million, the NBC exec told us.
