‘The View’: Whoopi Goldberg Thinks Women ‘With PMS’ Will Make Good Combat Soldiers (Video)

Co-host tackles backlash to combat roles being open to women in U.S. armed forces for the first time in history

Whoopi Goldberg had some choice words on Tuesday’s “The View” for men in the military who are not happy with the decision to allow women into combat roles.

“Quite honestly, if you want to kick some bad guy’s ass, you want a woman with PMS,” Goldberg said. The comment came during a discussion of a new poll that found that 85 percent of male Special Ops soldiers are opposed to women joining their ranks, one of the reasons being that women are unfit due to their menstrual cycles.

Co-host Paula Faris played devil’s advocate and backed up the male soldiers’ perspective, saying that some of their arguments made sense.

“I think women have proven we’re perfectly capable,” Faris said. “We can do anything we put our mind to. But you look at particular situations in combat, some of the reasons were perfectly logical.”

She then quoted a soldier who wrote in, “‘I deployed with a female combat and we had to med-evac her for a yeast infection.’ [The soliders] talk about foreign partners. They don’t respect female soldiers,” she said.

Goldberg then took issue with the rationale that male and female soldiers will inevitably end up in a romantic relationship.

“The fact that you think you’re going to be sexually attracted to somebody is not our problem,” she said. “That’s your problem. That means you need to go get yourself redone. You need to go get– if I’m so alluring you can’t concentrate on your Special Ops job, there’s a problem.”
