“Witch stole my look” could be the catchphrase for the upcoming fifth season of The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” which returns Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8/7c.
The youth-skewing network released the first teaser for Season 5 and the doppelgangers gone crazy in it. Is Stefan (Paul Wesley) stabbing Silas or is it the other way around? Is that Silas or his “shadow self” romancing bathing tub beauty Katherine?

As we expect from him, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) provides the comic relief: “If I have to hear doppelganger one more time, then I have to learn how to spell it!”
Plus, fans of Damon and Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) romance can take comfort in the three little words they utter to each other, “I love you.”
Executive producer Julie Plec told fans at the most recent San Diego Comic-Con, “We decided to try to keep them happy this year. We’ll see how far we get with that.”
