‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Trailer Features Lots of Wolverine, But No Sentinels (Video)

Past and present “X-Men” casts team up for ultimate adventure

History and the present-day collide in the new trailer for “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which features several iterations of the mutant super-team in an adventure that spans time and space.

The hotly anticipated film brings back Bryan Singer, who directed the first two “X” films. It also features the return of original cast members Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman. Xavier and Magneto collide with their younger selves, played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender — as well as a young Mystique, played by Jennifer Lawrence.

Details of the plot are being closely guarded, but Singer has revealed that it is partially set during the 1970s and features former President Richard Nixon in a key role. There’s a glimpse of “Tricky Dick” at his jowly best in the trailer. It’s also believed that the mutant hunting robots known as the Sentinels factor into the fun.

The trailer is heavy on dramatic pronouncements, but light on details.

“Logan, I was a very different man,” Stewart as Professor Xavier intones with that inimitable Shakespearean baritone. “Lead me. Guide me. Be patient with me.”

“Patience isn’t my strongest suit,” the man better known as Wolverine quips.

We still have no idea what it’s about, but it sure looks a lot more intriguing than “X-Men: The Last Stand.”
