Fox Sports Uses Donald Trump Immigrant Remarks to Promote USA vs. Mexico Soccer Match

TV spot eschews GOP candidate’s more controversial comments about Mexicans in favor of “bong” and “bing”

Using clips mined from Donald Trump’s controversial public addresses on Mexican immigration to the U.S., Fox Sports has stitched together a TV spot promoting Saturday night’s soccer match between the two nations.

Borrowing lines like “I love the Mexican people. They have amazing spirit” and “our country has tremendous people, tremendous potential” the 30-second ad juxtaposes Trump and game footage against a hip-hop score.

The spot understandably omits the remarks that surrounded his sentiments on the Mexican people, wherein the GOP frontrunner for president said that Mexico is “sending us their criminals” and therefore should pay the U.S. $100,000 for every immigrant sent.

Perhaps of lesser significance, the ad also includes quotes like “bing” and “bong” before putting an exclamation point on the significance of the match by finishing with Trump’s trademark rallying cry: “And we will make America great again.”

USA vs. Mexico airs Saturday from the Rose Bowl at 6 p.m. PT on Fox Sports 1.
