‘Penny Dreadful’ Gets New Absolutely Creepy Literary Teaser (Video)

Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” has never been more disgusting

Showtime’s psychosexual thriller “Penny Dreadful” has a creepy new teaser featuring gross imagery bubbling up through a copy of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula.”

The new clip opens with a Stoker quote, “There is a reason why all things are as they are,” and continues through the genre classic. All the while, the book, which is stitched together like human skin, is busting bloodily at the seams.

The Showtime series follows some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters — including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula — who have become embroiled in Victorian London.

“Penny Dreadful” stars Josh Hartnett (“Black Hawk Down”), Timothy Dalton (“License to Kill”) and Eva Green (“Casino Royale”). Reeve Carney (“Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark”), Rory Kinnear (“Skyfal”l), Billie Piper (“Doctor Who”), Danny Sapani (“The Bill’) and Harry Treadaway (“The Lone Ranger”) also star.

“Penny Dreadful” premieres May 11 on Showtime at 10 p.m.
