Beyonce Knowles will not be putting her own Sasha Fierce-like spin on "A Star is Born," the singer told TheWrap Wednesday.
The oft-remade story was to be given a fresh sprucing up courtesy of director Clint Eastwood with Knowles taking over the showy role of a star on the rise that has been previously played by Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland. However, in a statement, Knowles blamed a jam-packed calendar for forcing her to abandon the project.

"I was looking forward to the production of A Star Is Born and the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood," Knowles said in a statement to TheWrap. "For months, we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life but it was just not possible. Hopefully, in the future, we will get a chance to work together."
Without Knowles, the project may languish in development hell. Eastwood and Warner Bros. had been approaching a laundry list of big-time actors including Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio to play the male lead, an equally weighty role involving a former star on a long, alcohol-fueled career slide. But it was Knowles who was going to give the film the extra sparkle.
Knowles has been actively campaigning for President Barack Obama's re-election (Eastwood is on the other side of the race, as TV viewers will no doubt remember from the RNC "chair speech") and recording a new album. She last appeared on screen in the 2009 psychological thriller "Obsessed" and will provide voice-work on the upcoming animated film "Epic."
