‘Daily Show’: John Oliver Rips Supreme Court and Congress (Video)

The Comedy Central host is not a fan of the government's recent decisions

The Daily Show took on both the legislative and judicial branches of the government last night.

First, Oliver addressed the Supreme Court's decision to strike down the part of the Voting Rights Act that called for federal oversight of states with a history of disenfranchising voters, such as "Whitesylvania, Pale-afornia, Causasiacut, Klansas … and Mississippi," because, according to Chief Justice John Roberts "our country has changed." "We're good, then!" Oliver responded, before detailing why, exactly, we aren't.

Oliver then devoted a good five minutes to highlighting Congress's recent inability to pass bills that are important, like the Farm Bill (voted down for the first time in 40 years), while bills that have something to do with duck stamps sailed right through. Cue the music montage (set to Joe Esposito's "You're the Best") of Congress being the best around at "passing borderline meaningless legislation."

There was also cow confetti and Oliver giving snaps.
