‘Empire’ Star Taraji P. Henson Defends Her Curves: My Butt Is All Real! (Video)

Actress dishes on the clothes, controversy, and credit she’s finally getting from the Fox show during an appearance on ABC’s “The View”

Taraji P. Henson is glad Fox’s smash hit “Empire” is finally getting her the recognition among viewers that she deserves — but questions about her rear end were quite unexpected.

“People don’t think it’s real! But, I mean, it’s my butt!” Henson said during an appearance on ABC’s “The View” Wednesday.

Henson was responding to “View” host Rosie Perez‘s question about controversy stemming from a bare derriere scene on the Fox drama. As a a result, co-host Whoopi Goldberg called on viewers to stop playing the “real or fake” game when it comes to women’s bodies.

Henson does get to choose what goes on her curves, though. She told “The View” that she gets to pick from a rack of clothes that suit her best, and she loads up on jewelry since that’s what her character, Cookie, would do.

The “Empire” star said the record-breaking show — which has grown in the ratings every week since it premiered in January — has given Henson name recognition that has been lacking through much of her career.

“I’m just happy that people are starting to finally connect the dots, because I was always, ‘Oh that’s that girl from that movie,’” Henson said.

“And a lot of people have seen me in movies, you just didn’t know you were looking at Taraji P. Henson,” she added.
