‘Furious 7’ Producer Neal Moritz Signs Overall Deal With Sony Television

Producer also hires Pavun Shetty to head Original Film’s TV division

Neal Moritz has signed an overall deal with Sony Television, the company announced Tuesday.

The two-year deal covers both comedy and drama for network and cable television. The “Furious 7” producer has hired television executive Pavun Shetty to head his company Original Film’s TV division.

Shetty will lead all television development and production for the compnay. He most recently served as head of comedy at Chernin Entertainment, where he produced the sitcom “New Girl” for Fox.

The company, which was previously under an overall deal with CBS Television Studios, executive produced the pilot “Preacher” through Sony for AMC. The network gave the series a 10-episode order slated for mid-2016.

The film side of Original is currently under a long-term deal with Sony, for which it has produced the “Fast and Furious” and “Jump Street” franchises.

Moritz is represented by UTA for television and attorney Howard Abramson.
