ABC is developing “The Thousandth Floor,” an adaptation of the upcoming novel series by Katharine McGee, TheWrap has learned.
The hour-long drama project comes from Greg Berlanti‘s Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television. Maggie Friedman is set to write and executive produce, while Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo will serve as executive producers.
The futuristic drama is set in 2118, in a thousand-story supertower on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. A young woman’s fall from the 1,000th floor ignites a scandal that ensnares the top-floor elite and the bottom-floor drones. In this hyper-stratified world, the higher you climb, the farther you fall.
The first book in McGee’s series is slated to be released by HarperTeen in 2017.
Friedman last served as showrunner on Lifetime’s “Witches of East End.” She’s represented by CAA and Ensemble Entertainment.
