If the first trailer for "Clear History" is as good as the rest of the movie, the funniest film of the year won't be in theaters, it will be on television.
Larry David stars opposite Jon Hamm in the upcoming HBO comedy, directed by Greg Mottola ("Superbad"), about a former marketing executive (David) who gives up his stock in a start-up electric-car company after a petty argument with his boss (Hamm), and is publicly humiliated when the company makes billions. Ten years later, David lives on a small Massachusetts island under a new identity, but his simple life is threatened when his former boss decides to move to the same island.

Audiences should expect another dose of comedy that they came to know and love during eight seasons of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," but a beard and uncharacteristically long hair makes David nearly unrecognizable for a portion of the film.
"Holy shit," co-star Danny McBride says in the trailer. "You look like the guy who kidnapped Elizabeth Smart."
Kate Hudson, Bill Hader, Michael Keaton, Eva Mendes, Amy Ryan, Philip Baker Hall and JB Smoove also star in the movie premiering Aug. 10 on HBO.
