Premiering in its new time period following "The Voice," NBC's "Grimm" enjoyed a massive ratings boost Tuesday night, helping to propel the network to the top ratings spot, while CBS's "NCIS: Los Angeles" and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" dropped to series lows, according to preliminary numbers.
NBC was first in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic with a 3.1 rating/9 share and second in total viewers with 9.7 million. "The Voice" at 8 p.m., though down 10 percent to a cycle low of 3.7/11, was still the night's most-watched program of the night and had 11.6 million total viewers. "Grimm" at 10, replacing the recently yanked "Ready for Love," jumped 54 percent from its most recent airing last Friday, posting a 2.0/5 and taking 6 million total viewers.
CBS was second in ratings and first in total viewers with a 2.2/6 and 12.8 million. "NCIS" at 8 was up 7 percent to a 3.0/10 and was the night's most-watched show with 17.7 million total viewers, while "NCIS: L.A." dropped 19 percent to a series low of 2.2/6 and took 12.9 million total viewers. The freshman drama "Golden Boy" at 10 also hit a series low, ticking down to a 1.3/4 and drawing 7.8 million total viewers.
Fox drew third place in ratings and fourth in total viewers with a 1.8/5 and 3.9 million. "Hell's Kitchen" at 8 ticked down to a 1.9/6 and had 4.7 million total viewers, while "New Girl" the following hour dipped 9 percent from its last original three weeks ago, taking a 2.0/6 with 3.6 million total viewers. "The Mindy Project" at 9:30 dropped 13 percent for a 1.3/3 and had 2.6 million total viewers.
ABC tied Univision for fourth in ratings with a 1.4/4 and took third place in total viewers outright with 7.8 million total viewers, compared to Univision's 3.4 million. The diving competition "Splash" plunged 18 percent to a series low of 0.9/3 with 4.3 million total viewers, while the "Dancing With the Stars" results show the following hour slid 25 percent to its own series nadir of 1.5/4 and had 10.6 million total viewers. The ABC News special "Amanda Knox Speaks" aired at 10, drawing a 1.7/5 and taking 8.5 million total viewers.
