The first footage from the second season of The CW’s “The 100” has been unveiled and it’s chock full of danger and mystery — and it’s only the first three minutes of the second season premiere.
Clarke (Eliza Taylor) doesn’t stay locked up in her Mount Weather cell for long, especially when she looks out her window and sees that Monty (Christopher Larkin), who had occupied the cell opposite hers last we saw in the Season 1 finale, is gone and cleanup is underway on his room by a person in a hazmat suit.

The reluctant-turned-gung-ho leader of the Earth-bound delinquent teens soon finds a way to escape from her cell, a nasty looking gash on her arm barely slowing her down at all. She rips the hood off the hazmat-suited figure, surprised to discover it’s a girl around her age (Eve Harlow), but not surprised enough to stop her escape attempt.
Clarke drags her new hostage around, looking for Monty and an escape route, only to turn around and discover something shocking which makes her exclaim, “Where the hell am I?”

Of course, like any good teaser that’s where the clip cuts out. But the footage is sufficient to get the sense that Season 2 of “The 100” won’t be backing down from the intensity and darkness of the show’s surprising first season.
“The 100” returns for season 2 on Wednesday, Oct 22 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
