Beatles’ fans can now join the digital age: The Beatles’ catalog has finally been digitally remastered and will go on sale on CDs on September 9, coinciding with the launch of "The Beatles: Rock Band" video game.
The CDs will feature U.K. album art, expanded booklets with original and new liner notes and rare band photos. For a limited time, each CD also will include a documentary about the album’s production.
The re-releases will include the Beatles’ 12 studio albums and "Magical Mystery Tour" as well as "Past Masters Vol. I and II," which will be packaged as one collection.
But downloaders can be forgiven if they were disappointed by the announcement: The catalog will not be available online in the foreseeable future, although the digital remastering is seen as bringing that process one step closer.
