Clooney Tells Berlusconi Over Sex Trial: Do I Know You?

The Italian Premier’s defense attorneys have named the actor on their list of defense witnesses

The sex trial of the Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi gets weirder and weirder.

Now his defense lawyers want George Clooney and his Italian girlfriend to testify at the premier's upcoming prostitution trial.

But in a statement to TheWrap, the movie star said he didn't know the guy.

"It seems odd since I've only met Berlusconi once and that was in an attempt to get aid into Darfur," Clooney wrote.

Berlusconi is accused of paying for sex with a 17-year-old Moroccan girl and using his influence to try to cover it up. He denies wrongdoing. The trial opens April 6 in Milan.

Clooney and his Italian girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis are two of 78 potential defense witnesses. The duo were named because the victim said that she saw them at a party at Berlusconi's mansion.

Clooney has a villa on Lake Como in Italy.
