Budweiser, Stolichnaya Not Thrilled About ‘Flight’ Cameos

Beverage companies want logos obscured in future releases of "Flight"

Budweiser and Stolichnaya are not enjoying the buzz they're getting from their cameos in "Flight."

Both beverage companies are featured in the searing depiction of alcoholism, and play key roles in the harrowing fall from grace of the hot-shot pilot played by Denzel Washington.

Now, Budweiser and Stolichnaya are reportedly asking the filmmakers to obscure their logos in future releases of the film. The companies say that they were never consulted about the use of their images in the drama.

"We would never condone the misuse of our products, and have a long history of promoting responsible drinking and preventing drunk driving," Budweiser vice president Robert McCarthy told Reuters.

A spokeswoman for Paramount, which is distributing the film, did not immediately respond to request for comment.

"Flight" made $25 million in its opening weekend and Washington's performance has many handicappers predicting an Oscar nomination. Should he win, Stoli and Budweiser would prefer that he not thank them.
