Newly Single Chris Harrison: ‘I’m Not Going to Be ‘The Bachelor’

'The Bachelor' host recently separated from his wife, but he says he's not going to be looking for love on reality TV

Chris Harrison and his wife Gwen Jones recently separated after 18 years of marriage, but "The Bachelor" host says he's not ready to become a "Bachelor" contestant.

"Getting out of a 22-year relationship, having just announced my divorce to the world a week ago, having two kids and trying to start a new life, I'm thinking I wouldn't exactly be a great candidate to be 'The Bachelor' right now or anytime soon," Harrison said in a conference call Wednesday about the new season of "The Bachelorette," reports People.com.

"I was waiting for that question," Harrison said.

Harrison did say he can imagine how hosting the reality love search series might mean his future dates will have high expectations for being wooed.

"Yep, (they will expect) the helicopter and private jet," he said. "I haven't actually had a date in 22 years so we'll see."

The eighth season of "The Bachelorette," starring single mom Emily Maynard, premieres Monday on ABC.
