CNN’s insuppressible Jim Acosta shouted a question to President Donald Trump before a speech commemorating six months of his signature Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Friday, evoking a chastising “shush” from a bystander.
“Mr. President, will you stop calling the press the enemy of the people,” said the CNN White House correspondent, cupping his hands to his mouth to help his voice carry from the back of the room.
He repeated the questions several times, prompting some onlookers to shoot him a disdainful stare. One man publicly shushed him — to no avail.
Acosta ultimately gave up after realizing the effort was fruitless.
The performance was classic Acosta, who has emerged as one of the president’s chief adversaries. During Trump’s Singapore summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, Acosta could be heard shouting questions off-camera at both world leaders.
He also spars regularly with White House press secretary Sarah Sanders in the briefing room. Team Trump, for their part, have hit back just as hard, with the president himself repeatedly dismissing Acosta and his network as “fake news.”
