Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz Star in ‘The Lobster’

Futuristic romance marks Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos English-language debut

Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz will play the lead roles in the dystopian love story “The Lobster,” Protagonist Pictures said Monday in advance of the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin.

The picture marks the English language by Oscar-nominated Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos (“Dogtooth”) and starts shooting this March in Ireland. The cast includes Ben Whishaw (“Skyfall”) and Léa Seydoux (“Blue is the Warmest Color”).

Farrell most recently logged a memorable supporting role as P.L. Travers’ alcoholic father in “Saving Mr. Banks,” and will next appear in the supernatural romance “Winter’s Tale.” He is also co-starring in “Miss Julie” opposite Jessica Chastain and “Solace” alongside Anthony Hopkins.

Weisz recently appeared in “Oz: The Great and Powerful” and on Broadway in the hit revival of “Betrayal” opposite her husband, Daniel Craig.
