Daniel Radcliffe Horror Thriller Goes to CBS Films

The company preemptively acquires U.S. distribution rights to "The Woman in Black"

CBS Films has preemptively acquired "The Woman in Black," a gothic horror thriller starring Daniel Radcliffe, the company announced Thursday.

In addition to the "Harry Potter" star, the movie features Ciaran Hinds ("The Debt"), Janet McTeer ("Into The Storm") and Shaun Dooley ("The Red Riding Trilogy").

The movie is about a young lawyer, played by Radcliffe, who goes to a remote village where residents are terrorized by the angry ghost of a scorned woman.

James Watkins directed the movie, which was adapted for the screen by Jane Goldman. It's based on Susan Hill's 1983 novel and was a stage play and television miniseries in 1989.

The film is a Cross Creek Pictures, Hammer Films & Alliance Films production. Simon Oakes, Richard Jackson and Brian Oliver are producing.
