Andrew Dice Clay‘s new series “Dice” has received a Season 2 order at Showtime, TheWrap has learned.

The new season will feature seven half-hour episodes and will air in 2017. The series stars the comedian as a fictionalized version of himself.

It follows the unemployed comic as he struggles in the Vegas suburbs to be a loving father, a devoted boyfriend and a professional gambler who is stuck dealing with the effects of his bizarre brand of fame. Production will shoot in Los Angeles and Las Vegas next year.

Clay’s biggest success came in the 1980s and ’90s when his controversial stand up routines made him a national success, even selling out Madison Square Garden in 1990. He has made sporadic appearances on film and television ever since, frequently playing himself in recent years.

In addition to Clay, the series also stars Kevin Corrigan. Last season’s guest stars included Natasha Leggero, Lorraine Bracco, Adrien Brody, Michael Rapaport, Wayne Newton, Criss Angel and Rita Rudner.

Scot Armstrong created the show and executive producers along with Sean Furst, Bryan Furst, Clay, Bruce Rubenstein, Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka.

Season 1 of the show marked the first time in network history that an entire first season of a series was released at once to subscribers on the Showtime streaming service and Showtime On Demand.
