Dan Stevens, who plays Matthew Crawley on the PBS series "Downton Abbey," will make his Broadway debut in a revival of "The Heiress," with Jessica Chastain and David Strathairn.
Stevens has appeared on the stage in London in David Leveaux’s 2009 West End production of Tom Stoppard’s "Arcadia," André Previn’s "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour" at the National Theatre in 2009 and Noel Coward's "Hay Fever" in 2006 at the Royal Haymarket Theatre.

He also played Orlando opposite Rebecca Hall in Peter Hall's 2004 touring production of "As You Like It."
Stevens will take on the role of Morris Townsend in Ruth and Augustus Goetz's adaptation of the Henry James 1880 novel "Washington Square."
Chastain, who is also making her Broadway debut, will play Catherine Sloper, the object of Townsend's affection. Strathairn will play Catherine's protective father, Dr. Austin Sloper. He last appeared on Broadway in 2003 in a staged reading of "Salome," opposite Al Pacino and Marisa Tomei.
The revival will be staged by playwright-director Moises Kaufman ("The Laramie Project," "33 Variations") and is scheduled to begin performances in October at a Broadway theater to be announced.
The play was last seen on Broadway in 1995 in a production that won four Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Play and Best Actress for Cherry Jones, who played Catherine.
"The Heiress" is produced by film and TV producer Paula Wagner, along with veteran Broadway producers Roy Furman and Stephanie P. McClelland.
