Jay and Silent Bob are getting rebooted, this time for a sequel to a spinoff in Kevin Smith’s “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot” of which Smith shared the trailer for his new film at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday.
The self-referential movie and finds the two lovable slackers and stoners trying to stop another remake of one of their own comics from happening…again.
This time though, the duo are fathers. As they set off on the road to Hollywood again, Mewes’s character meets his old fling and his love child named Millennium Falcon (Harley Quinn Smith). She’s even got her own silent best friend.
“Can you take us to Hollywood with you,” Falcon asks. “Either you take us to Hollywood, or I stab you both to death on my own f—ing front lawn.”
There’s a bunch of celebrity cameos, including Ben Affleck, Chris Hemsworth, Matt Damon, Jason Biggs, James Van Der Beek, Tommy Chong, Fred Armisen, Craig Robinson and many more. Smith announced on Instagram Thursday that Melissa Benoist, who he directed in “Supergirl,” was joining the project as the superhero of the rebooted take on Jay and Silent Bob’s comic “Bluntman and Chronic,” with Benoist playing a female version of Chronic.
“Jay and Silent Bob Reboot” opens in theaters from Saban Films and Fathom Events on Oct. 15. The film will play in 600 theaters nationwide starting at 7 p.m. local time and will be accompanied by a video message from Smith and Mewes.
