Jonathan Helfgot will return to Twentieth Century Fox as EVP of Theatrical Marketing, the studio announced Tuesday.

The executive, who most recently served as marketing president for Open Road Films, rejoins the studio where he had worked from 2004 to 2011, ultimately as SVP of marketing strategy.

Beginning May 8, Helfgot will report to Pam Levine, TCFF’s President of Global Marketing, and his appointment is effective May 8.

“We are thrilled to have Jonathan join our team in this pivotal role where his strategic instincts and overall breadth of experience in the film industry will be invaluable assets to our marketing efforts,” Levine said in statement.

While at Open Road, Helfgot oversaw campaigns for the Sundance favorite “Before I Fall,” directed by Ry Russo Young and starring Zoey Deutch, Oliver Stone’s controversial “Snowden,” and the Jamie Foxx action thriller “Sleepless.”

He had previously served as founder and managing partner of Rec Room, an original and branded content studio. Rec Room created non-traditional marketing campaigns for clients including Netflix, Fox, Warner Bros, HBO, Sony Pictures, Universal, Disney and FX.

He had also worked at Anschutz Film Group, where he led all marketing efforts for Walden Media, as well as managing Walden’s branding strategies across publishing, licensing, promotions, outreach, and new media.
