Cameron Douglas, eldest son of Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor and producer, Michael Douglas, has been released from prison after serving a seven-year sentence and is currently in a halfway house.

According to Page Six, the actor’s son is planning on writing a tell-all book about how he went from living a Hollywood life to being confined to a prison.

“Cameron will talk about his struggle being the son and grandson of Hollywood icons, and then his bad decisions which led him to jail, and then solitary confinement,” a source told Page Six.

Douglas was imprisoned after being convicted of possession of heroin and methamphetamine in 2010, according to E! Upon his arrest, he was found with nearly a pound of meth, reported the Daily Mail.

The 37-year-old was originally sentenced to five years, but it was extended an additional four and a half years after he confessed to smuggling drugs into prison.

According to the Daily Mail, Douglas was initially placed under house arrest but that privilege was revoked once it was discovered that his girlfriend, Kelly Scott, was attempting to sneak heroin to him in a toothbrush.

Once he was in prison, his lawyer, Jennifer Ridha, began smuggling Xanax to him to help him deal with his drug addiction.

In 2013, Douglas was placed in solitary confinement after testing positive for drugs, according to The New York Post.

“He is staying low-key after his release and plans to spend time with his father and mother,” the source told Page Six. “He believes this is a new start, and a chance at a new life.”
