NEC Display Solutions of America has extended its program of financing incentives aimed at helping theater owners upgrade to 3D-enabled digital cinema projectors.
Originally dubbed a holiday financing program, the successful offer has been extended through March 31.
NEC said the extension was due in part to the success of James Cameron’s "Avatar," which has been wowing audiences in 3D-equipped theaters.
"With the increased number of 3D movies scheduled to be released over the next few months, now’s the time for theater owners to improve their technology and benefit from the increased box office revenue associated with 3D movies," Jim Reisteter, general manager of NEC’s digital cinema division, said in a statement.
NEC is offering financing "to help theater owners obtain advanced digital projector technology for 3D that has the potential to pay for itself within 12 to 18 months," he added.
