The Rock is proving solid for TNT.
"The Hero," the new reality show starring wrestler-turned-movie star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, got off to a respectable start with its Thursday premiere, drawing 1.5 million total viewers.
Among the 18-49 demographic most sought by advertisers, "The Hero" grabbed 855,000 viewers — up 94 percent over the network's year-to-date average in the timeslot, excluding sports.
An impressive number, especially given the fact that "The Hero" had Game 1 of the NBA Finals to contend with as competition.
With a 10 p.m. encore factored in, "The Hero" drew more than 2.1 million total viewers, with more than 1.1 million in the 18-49 demo.
"The Hero" features contestants pitted in physical challenges intended to highlight their heroic qualities. "Pain & Gain" star Johnson hosts the series, and is also an executive producer.
