Ratings: ‘SHIELD’ Ties Series Low in Week of ‘Captain America’ Release

First-place CBS nearly doubles second-place network in viewers

“Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” tied a series low in the key demographic, days before the release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” CBS topped Tuesday, earning nearly twice as many viewers as second-place NBC.

Disney and ABC have tried to use the Marvel series and superhero films to cross-promote one another, and a crossover episode with “Winter Soldier” is planned for next week. But the hype and anticipation surrounding the film don’t appear to have paid off this week for the network, at least in the coveted 18-49 demo. (One small victory: “SHIELD” did jump 38 percent since its last episode with 12-to-17-year-olds.)
