Relativity EuropaCorp Distribution Names Tommy Gargotta Marketing President

He’ll report to Relativity’s Tucker Tooley and EuropCorp’s Christophe Lambert

Relativity EuropaCorp Distribution has appointed Tommy Gargotta as president of theatrical marketing, the studio announced Thursday.
Gargotta will oversee marketing for the distribution company which supports EuropaCorp’s film releases in the U.S. and Relativity’s slate. Gargotta will report to Relativity president Tucker Tooley and EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert, who jointly made the announcement.

Gargotta joins Relativity EuropaCorp Distribution following 13 years at Sony Pictures Entertainment, most recently serving as president of worldwide creative advertising. At Sony, Gargotta oversaw and conceived marketing campaigns for films and franchises such as “S.W.A.T.,” “50 First Dates,” “The Da Vinci Code,” “Click,” “Vantage Point,” “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” “Salt,” “Bad Teacher,” “The Other Guys,” “21 and 22 Jump Street,” “Grown Ups,” “Hotel Transylvania,” “American Hustle” and “The Amazing Spider Man 1 & 2.”

In addition, he created advertising materials for Sony’s lucrative James Bond franchise including “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace” and “Skyfall,” which grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide.

Prior to joining Sony, Gargotta worked on the ad agency side of the business. He served as VP and creative director at Intralink Film Graphic Design, and as head editor/producer at Trailer Park.

“Tommy, one of the most creative executives in our industry, is the perfect person to oversee marketing for our distribution company and connect our slates with audiences in an increasingly fragmented marketplace,” said Lambert.

Relativity’s upcoming films include the hit Sundance comedy “The Bronze” (July 10), “Masterminds” (Aug. 7) starring Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis, “Kidnap” (Oct. 9) starring Halle Berry and “Autobahn” (Oct. 30) starring Nicholas Hoult, Felicity Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley.
EuropaCorp’s upcoming films include “The Transporter Refueled” (June 19), “Shut-In” (Feb. 19, 2016) starring Naomi Watts, “The Lake” (July 15, 2016) starring Sullivan Stapleton and JK Simmons and “Nine Lives” starring Kevin Spacey.
