Linda Walker Zevallos wasn’t that attracted to Robert Durst, and she thinks that might have saved her life.
“I just had had enough,” she told People. “It was too weird. I just sensed there was something wrong with the guy.”
Zevallos ended her relationship with Durst after six months. When they met, Durst lied by telling her he was a labor lawyer with two daughters in Harvard. Durst also told her his friend’s wife went missing, instead of his wife Kathleen.
Initially he was a “good listener” when the two met on an airplane, Zevallos said, but she wasn’t interested in him romantically.
“I was just never into him,” she said. “The only reason I kept seeing him is because he was the one who was pursuing me. He kept calling and calling.”
The two started dating, and while visiting her apartment, she noticed a strange set up: “I noticed that there was a room with a concrete floor and an electric saw in it.”
Durst explained the strange apartment by saying he was “remodeling because they were turning the apartments there into condos.”
Overall, Zevallos told People: ” feel very lucky…I dodged a bullet.”
