Over the years, Matthew Del Negro has been in pretty much every show you can imagine: “The Sopranos,” “The West Wing,” “Law & Order,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “NCIS,” “Teen Wolf,” “United States of Tara” — the list goes on.
But when he landed a relatively small role in a big TV show, his life was turned upside down in the best possible way. Now his character is marrying Cyrus Beene, the fictional chief of staff on Shonda Rhimes‘ juggernaut “Scandal,” a move that took everyone by surprise, Del Negro included.
“It’s exactly how I saw it happening,” Del Negro joked during TheWrap‘s latest installment of “Drinking with The Stars” at Riviera 31 in Los Angeles.
Del Negro plays Michael, a ridiculously chiseled D.C. prostitute who is hired by the president’s political enemy to seduce POTUS’ gay chief of staff.
After the the story goes public, crisis manager Olivia Pope forces Beene to marry the prostitute so she can spin their sexual trysts as a love affair in an effort to make the scandal go away.
No word yet on wether the wedding will go through as planned (promos for the show have been teasing it for days), but either way Del Negro has already become a fan favorite.
“
Asked what he thought when he got the script and saw the words “male prostitute,” the actor said, “You’re thinking, ‘Oh sh-t!’”
TheWrap also played a little game of “Scandal Wrapid Fire,” which you can see here.
