‘Sharknado 2’ Locks In Ian Ziering and Tara Reid

Sequel is scheduled to premiere in July

Ian Ziering and Tara Reid are ready to take another spin with the Sharknado.

The former “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “American Pie” stars respectively will reunite for the sequel to their successful Syfy movie “Sharknado,” which will be titled — wait for it — “Sharknado 2: The Second One.”

The sequel will begin filming in New York on Feb. 13, as a sort of Valentine’s Day gift to the schlock-loving public.

“‘Sharknado’ was an extraordinary ‘perfect storm’ which captured the attention of movie fans across the globe,” Thomas Vitale, executive vice president, programming and orginal movies for Syfy said. “You couldn’t go anywhere without hearing about Sharknado! By reassembling the creative team — and dropping sharks onto New York’s iconic sites — we’re unleashing yet another ‘fin’ wave of shark-mania.”

“Sharknado 2” director Anthony Ferrante and screenwriter Thunder Levin are back on board for the second go-round.

Scheduled for a July premiere on Syfy, the “Sharknado” sequel will revolve around a freak weather system that turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished, iconic sites — and only Fin (Ziering) and April (Reed) can save the Big Apple.

The first “Sharknado” became a social media sensation last summer, creating a buzz that boosted the movie’s subsequent airings on Syfy following its modestly-rated premiere.
