CBS ‘MacGyver’ Pilot Adds ‘CSI’ Alum George Eads

Actor played Nick Stokes on crime drama for 15 seasons

George Eads is returning to his TV crime-fighting roots in the new “MacGyver” pilot at CBS, TheWrap has learned.

The series is a reimagining of the original show, following a 20-something MacGyver as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization, where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.

Eads will play Lincoln, a man who could easily be written off as an eccentric conspiracy theorist but is actually a legit government employee with a great capability for compassion. Eads famously played Nick Stokes for 15 seasons on another CBS drama, “CSI.” The lead role of MacGyver has yet to be cast.

In addition, David Von Ancken will direct the pilot instead of James Wan, who was forced to bow out due to scheduling conflicts with post-production on “The Conjuring 2.”

Paul Downs Colaizzo is writing the pilot. He will also executive produce along with Michael Clear, Henry Winkler, Lee Zlotoff and Wan. CBS Television Studios will produce.
